Was crocheting a blanket..and Grima's creative side took over...
he proceeded to help..even though he really didn't know what he was doing..so he grabbed the hook and pretended to be Saruman with his staff..
he got all wrapped up in what he was doing...and attempted his knife slashing action..but to no avail.
